It's no secret that swimming pools often represent significant investments for homeowners who choose to purchase them. For many, the price tag of a pool is second only to the home itself, prompting some potential buyers to spend years weighing whether or not to buy and when. It's a big decision that often fulfills dreams of at-home fun and luxury and is an expression of personal taste, ambition, and the desire for a private slice of the good life. Whether your pool is for beauty, prestige, exercise, relaxation, fun or all of the above, once installed it will become part of your life. If designed and built to a standard of excellence, it will serve as a source of enjoyment for decades to come. By contrast, if the opposite is true and the builder falls short of any number of important benchmarks, a pool can cause headaches, needless expense, and on- going frustration. With so much at stake, it's reasonable to assume that pool builders and designers will meet a set of specific client expecta- tions. In other words, homeowners should be able to count on their contractors to hit certain high "watermarks" as a matter of fi- duciary obligation and professional ethics. F E A T U R E S L u x u r y P o o l s Unfortunately, like many other seg- ments of contracting and construction, the pool industry includes firms that do not meet reasonable consumer expecta- tions—either out of ignorance or a habit of cutting corners as they compete strictly on price instead of quality. As a result, pools, and those who build them, are not all created equal. Because of this fact, Genesis, has been devoted to educating pool and spa indus- try professionals in all critical facets of design, engineering and construction for the past 16 years. Through our education- al programs, we've made it our business to provide the training needed to meet and exceed client expectations. To help you navigate the decisions you'll face throughout the purchasing and planning process, here's a brief registry of what we believe you should reasonably expect when devoting your resources to owning a quality aquatic setting.
