Last Word 128 O C E A N H O M E M A G . C O M | Febr uar y + March 2016 LIGHT UP YOUR WORLD words by Julia Johnson Many fortunate ocean homeowners already have the world firmly at their feet, but what about having the world overhead at the same time? Leading French visual artist and designer Benoît Vieubled (left) has created a unique and spectacular light fixture – appropriately titled Map of the World – featuring an illuminated cluster of upside-down and downside-up globes that appear suspended in time and space. The full- size chandelier is 6.5 feet high and almost 2 feet wide but is also available with seven and nine globes for smaller stairwells. The light is just one of scores of distinctive art, sculpture and decorative objects emanating from Vieubled's design studio in Orléans in the heart of the Loire Valley. Prices start from €789 (about $840). The world at your feet and overhead – we call that the best of both worlds. benoit-vieubled.com PHOTOGRAPHS BY RENÉ BRASSART (LIGHT) AND GÉRALDINE ARESTEANU (PORTRAIT)
